Frequently Asked Questions for Scholarship Recipients
I am a scholarship recipient; however I am transferring to a different school. Will my award follow me?
Scholarship funds are only transferable between Datatel client institutions.
What if the school I am transferring to is not a Datatel client?
If the school you are transferring to is not an eligible Datatel client, your award will be forfeited. We do ask that you please notify the Foundation in writing of any changes.
Who do I notify if there are changes?
Please send an email to scholars@datatel.com.
When do I need to notify the Foundation if I will be transferring schools?
Please email the Foundation as soon as possible. Failure to do so may result in funds not arriving at your institution at the start of the Fall semester.
What can the scholarship award be used for?
The monies may be used exclusively for the purpose of paying tuition, fees and other education-related expenses during the 2008-2009 academic year (August 2009 - July 2010).
What is meant by “Other education-related expenses”?
Other education-related expenses are defined by each individual institution, at their discretion.
When will I receive the award?
Scholarship funds will be mailed to your institution in July for deposit into your student account.
Will the funds be released to me?
Each individual school has their own policy as to whether or not the funds can be released directly to the student. Please check with your institution regarding their policy and procedures.
How will the funds be dispersed?
Disbursement of the funds can be all at once or split between the semesters, as your institution determines.
Will I forfeit my scholarship if I move to a part-time student status?
Students must take at least six credit hours each semester in order to maintain their scholarship award. At any time a student falls below six credit hours, the remainder of the award must be returned to the Foundation. If you have any uncertainty about your status, please contact the Foundation.
What happens to the unused funds?
Any unused monies must be returned to the Foundation at the end of the academic year.
Are awards automatically renewed?
